


I am interested in the investigation of the quality of life across the life span.
I am an advocate of growth models of aging and the "salutogenic" approach, an orientation
that focuses on positive, healthy development. Specifically, I am interested in
the investigation of existential constructs such as personal meaning, optimism, death
attitudes, and spirituality and their adaptive role in mediating /moderating between
sources of life stress and physical and mental health. I have a secondary interest
in the development of measuring instruments in the areas of health, personal meaning,
death attitudes, stress and coping, resilience, spirituality, subjective well-
